SASSA R350 Grant Application Online 2022. SASSA(South African Social Security Agency) is an entity of the Department of Social Development responsible for administering social assistance in terms of Section 3 of the Social Assistance Act.

The President declared a National State of Disaster as a result of the Covid-19 global pandemic. In this regard he introduced a special Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD) of R350 per month for 6 months to be paid to individuals who are currently unemployed, do not receive any form of income, social grant or UIF payment etc.

This Social Relief of Distress Programme was confirmed in the Regulations made under Section 27(2) of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 (Act No. 57 of 2002): Measures to prevent and combat the spread of COVID-19, as amended.

You will need the followings in order to conduct application online

  1. Identity Number or Department of Home Affairs Refugee permit number
  2. Name and Surname as captured in the Identity Document
  3. Gender and Disability
  4. Contact details – Phone Number
  5. Residential Address

NOTICE TO APPLICANTS: Applicants will have to sign a declaration and consent to their information being validated and shared with other organizations and financial institutions such as SARS and banks. A detailed declaration and consent document is available on this website. During the application process, applicants are expected to agree or disagree to this document by confirming for instance through a yes or no option. Successful applicants will have to provide their banking details for payment purposes or their bank of choice for a cash transfer.

Criteria for Qualification | SASSA R350 Grant Application Online 2022

A person who is

  • A South African Citizen, Permanent Resident or Refugee registered on the Home Affairs database and persons who are holders of special permits under the Special Angolan Dispensation, the Lesotho Exemption Permit dispensation and the Zimbabwe Exemption Permit Dispensation, and asylum seekers whose section 22 permits or visas are valid or were valid on 15 March 2020;
  • Currently residing within the borders of the Republic of South Africa;
  • Above the age of 18 and below the age of 60;
  • Unemployed;
  • Not receiving any social grant in respect of himself or herself;
  • Not receiving an unemployment insurance benefit and does not qualify to receive an unemployment insurance benefit;
  • Not receiving a stipend from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme and other financial aid;
  • Not receiving any other government COVID-19 response support;
  • Not a resident in a government funded or subsidized institution.
